Geotechnics and Mining Infrastructure
Advanced site investigation, static and seismic stability solutions, and structural numerical modelling for critical mining infrastructure.

Our Approach
We deliver specialised geotechnical engineering to mitigate geological risks, optimise earthworks and ensure the operational continuity of the mine. We link field investigation with numerical modelling to accurately predict ground behaviour under static loading scenarios and seismic events.
Areas of Work
- Two- and three-dimensional structural numerical modelling for the analysis of stress, stress–strain behaviour and water flow in saturated and unsaturated media using finite elements.
- Slope stability assessment by 2D and 3D limit equilibrium, together with seepage control in tailings storage facilities, leach pads and waste dumps.
- Seismic and dynamic engineering focused on seismic hazard studies and the assessment of static and dynamic liquefaction potential to prevent structural failures.
- Stability at soil–geosynthetic interfaces through geotechnical design aimed at guaranteeing the physical integrity of lining systems.

- Comprehensive leach pad engineering, covering foundation design, the stability of high-lift stacks and the optimisation of solution flow in process ponds.
- Predictive field risk control through the determination of geotechnical thresholds and safe operating windows.
- High-resolution site investigations through campaigns that integrate diamond and sonic drilling, test pits, SCPTu seismic cone tests, SPT or DMT standard penetration tests and vane shear tests.
- Applied geophysics campaigns, with testing and interpretation of seismic refraction, MASW and MAM, to characterise the subsurface profile without the need for excavation.
